Structural Studies

structural studies

Multiple research studies have shown that many individuals with ASD have larger than average brains. Using MRI, we are expanding on these research studies to understand what causes this increase in size. We also study how different areas of the brain are connected, how blood flows in brain, tissue characteristics, and metabolism in the brain. This way we can learn how the brain is structured differently in ASD, all the way from brain chemistry to how the brain parts physically connect with each other. We also link these findings with our functional sensory perception studies.
